The matcha latte with whipped cream was very delicious and had a strong matcha taste compared to some other matcha lattes in Manchester. The hojicha latte was also very well balanced with a good roasted flavour. The stand is on the 3rd floor of Selfridges and it took us forever to find. There is very limited seating (hence only 4 stars for the dining experience), although the view is super nice. Would definitely recommend!

I’ve been to matcha Kyoto previously when it was doing pop ups in city tower and general store etc and love the authenticity and niche it’s brought to the beverage game in Manchester and having a permanent spot in selfridges makes it even easier to get to compared to its other spots. Previously I tried the Thai milk tea and it was good but then realised I was at a matcha spot so obviously need to get matcha.. I ordered the banana pudding matcha and it was amazing as loved the banana flavour and bread texture with the earthiness of the matcha which worked well. The staff are friendly aswell and you can tell it’s catered to social media lovers as they wait for you to record them putting on the matcha whipped cream Only con is the prices are pretty steep, we’re talking £7 for a regular drink and reaching £8 for a large and any add ons..

Ordered the matcha with banana pudding. I love banana pudding so it was such a treat to see on the menu. I love how varied and unique the menu is actually. I think it’s what Manchester’s missing with our current matcha scene. I loved it. Not too sweet, good serving of banana pudding, and fun to sip on as we walked through the city centre. My mother ordered the Ube matcha. We’re Filipino so we’re something of an ube expert. It didn’t come off as cultural appropriation either. Whilst she didn’t love it, she didn’t think it was bad. She said the ube flavour was muted, so maybe if it was stronger, that would be great. Servers were friendly too. The wait is a little long, but it’s expected because they do hand mix the matcha in front of you.

I had an amazing Uji matcha iced latte from here. It was hidden, located top floor of Selfridges! Lovely customer service and great real matcha drink! I liked it so much as it wasn’t so sweet and could taste the real uji green tea.

amazing matcha experience drinks are presented beautifully with delicious matcha cream and large sizes. prices are on the higher end, must do for the unique flavours :)

I tried the Ube Matcha and it was decent, just a bit mild. I’d recommend adding an extra scoop in a regular size, as both the matcha and ube flavours were subtle and overpowered by the whole milk. The service was friendly, just a little slow since it doubles as a popular social media spot in Selfridges. There is stronger matcha out there, but can’t fault the process for a pop up I would give their store in Albert Square a go instead if you are considering a trip to Matcha Kyōto.

My favourite matcha spot in Manchester. The quality is insane and matcha whipped cream on top is a nice little treat. Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful as there is so many options to choose from. I love that it’s located on the top floor of Selfridges and you can pause for a moment in the window area in between your shopping.

This place is truly a hidden gem (because you may initially spend some time hunting it down in a large mall). I ordered the Rose Iced Matcha Latte, and it was incredible. The quality of the matcha is very pure and goes well with rose milk. The staff are very polite and craft each drink with great attention to detail. If you love matcha, visiting this cafe is a must!
